Calcutta University Overview University of Calcutta , popularly known as Calcutta University was established on 24 Jan 1857 along with the University of Bombay and the University of Madras . Situated in Kolkata, West Bengal, CU is the oldest multidisciplinary university of the Indian Subcontinent and South East Asian Region.
