About Bombay Teachers Training College, Mumbai Bombay Teachers' Training College (BTTC) is a college of education in South Mumbai that prepares teachers for pre-primary, primary and secondary schools. It opened in April 1969 as a grant-in-aid Sindhi linguistic minority institution under the Hyderabad (Sindh) National Collegiate Board. For most of its history BTTC was affiliated to the University of Mumbai. It is now a constituent college of HSNC University, Mumbai. Teaching is in English and the college admits both men and women. Programmes on offer cover different stages of teacher training: Early Childhood Education Programme Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Ph.D. in Education, as a recognised research centre B.Ed admission in Maharashtra generally runs through the state CET for teacher education, and the college itself offers CET orientation and TET coaching for applicants and alumni. The college treats supervised field experience as the core of its programmes, so school internships, classroom observation and practice teaching take up a large part of the course. Student teachers are also expected to take on leadership roles in college activities, and reflective work on these experiences is built into assessment. On top of this, students take up extension work linked to the Department of Lifelong Learning. BTTC has a research cell for doctoral work and an alumni association that was registered in 2010.
