About Birla College of Arts Science and Commerce
History and Background
About Birla College of Arts Science and Commerce, Kalyan B.K. Birla College of Arts, Science and Commerce is in Kalyan, in Thane district of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The Kalyan Citizens' Education Society founded it in 1972, with support from B.K. Birla and Sarala Birla, after whom the college is named. It is affiliated to the University of Mumbai and now holds empowered autonomous status, which lets it design its own courses and examinations. The college is accredited by NAAC with an A++ grade (CGPA 3.51), valid from 2024 to 2031. It runs around 38 undergraduate and 37 postgraduate programmes, nine Ph.D. programmes, and a number of diploma and vocational courses, in both aided and unaided sections. B.A., B.Com. and B.Sc. in traditional subjects B.Sc. Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Cyber Security and Biotechnology BCA and BMS B.Voc. programmes such as Cyber Security and Forensics M.A., M.Com. and M.Sc., including M.Sc. Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Food Science and Nutraceuticals Admission is through the college's online application, with separate prospectuses for aided and self-financing courses each year. As an autonomous college, Birla College sets its own admission schedule and merit lists for most programmes, within University of Mumbai and state rules. For students in Kalyan and the surrounding parts of Thane district, the college offers newer technology courses alongside the arts, science and commerce streams it has taught since 1972, without the need to commute into Mumbai city.
