About Auroras Technological and Research Institute (ATRI)
History and Background
About Auroras Technological and Research Institute (ATRI), Hyderabad Aurora's Technological and Research Institute began in 1999 as Karshak Engineering College, set up by the Karshak Vidya Parishad in Kamareddy, Nizamabad district. It later moved to its permanent campus at Parvathapur, near Uppal in east Hyderabad, and took its present name. ATRI is one of eight engineering colleges in the Aurora group. Dr. Ramesh B. Nimmatoori, a computer science postgraduate, founded the group's parent consortium in 1989. The college is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) and approved by AICTE. NAAC has accredited it with an A grade, and NBA has accredited some of its courses. It started with B.Tech in CSE, ECE and IT, added Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2004, and added Mechanical and Civil Engineering in 2010. The current list of programmes: B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, and in CSE with specialisations in AI and Machine Learning, Data Science and Cyber Security B.Tech in Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Information Technology, Mechanical and Civil Engineering M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, and in Structural Engineering Admissions follow Telangana government rules. The convener fills 70 percent of seats on merit through EAMCET counselling (now TG EAPCET), and the management fills the remaining 30 percent. Students joining through either route submit their allotment letter with the admission form, and the college's website lists scholarships and financial help. The college received funding from AICTE's MODROBS scheme to modernise a mixed-signal IC laboratory. An ECE student team reached the final round of the Smart India Hackathon hardware category with a robotic arm for inspecting and painting ship tanks, a problem set by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders. The campus has a library, hostel, canteen, transport, sports facilities, yoga and meditation sessions, and facilities for differently abled students. There is also an R&D cell, an IPR cell and an incubation centre.
