About Anant National University
History and Background
About Anant National University, Ahmedabad Anant National University is a private university focused on design, architecture and the built environment. It was set up in 2016 under the Gujarat Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2016, and its Sanskardham campus lies on the Bopal-Ghuma-Sanand Road on the western side of Ahmedabad. Classrooms on the campus look out over a lake and a mango orchard. The university calls its approach "DesignX", meaning design taught alongside other fields such as artificial intelligence, AR and VR, analytics, biomimicry, economics, behavioural science and public policy. Undergraduates can mix and match from seven majors, eleven minors and more than a hundred electives, so two students in the same batch can end up with quite different degrees. Programmes include: B.Des (four years), with majors in Communication Design, Interaction Design, Space Design, Product Design, and Sustainable Fashion and Textile Design B.Arch (five years) Postgraduate design and built environment programmes Anant Fellowship for Climate Action and the Anant Fellowship in Sustainability and Built Environment Research master's and Ph.D. in built environment, design and creative practice Admission to the B.Des is through ADEPT, the university's own design entrance test. For the 2027-28 intake, candidates can sit ADEPT on either 27 December 2026 or 3 January 2027. B.Arch admission follows the national eligibility norms for architecture. Learning carries on outside the classroom through studio work, industry projects and community work on climate, heritage, rural livelihoods and poverty. The university runs a Centre for Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices and Swaastha, a healthcare start-up accelerator set up with India Accelerator. Students also work on projects with companies such as Accenture, Piramal, Reliance and TCS.
