History and Background
About Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology, Chennai Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology (AVIT) is an engineering and management institution in Chennai. It is a constituent college of Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation (VMRF), a deemed-to-be university headquartered in Salem. VMRF has four campuses across two districts of Tamil Nadu and in Puducherry. It teaches health sciences, non-health sciences and diploma programmes through 14 faculties. Because AVIT is part of a deemed university, its degrees are awarded by VMRF rather than by Anna University. The courses follow a choice-based credit system, so students can pick electives and take credits across subjects. The college puts weight on project-based learning, and much of the coursework is built around student projects. AVIT holds a NAAC A grade. The engineering list is long: B.Tech/B.E. Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology and Software Engineering Electronics and Communication, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering Mechanical and Automobile Engineering Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering For management, the Ganesan School of Business Management on campus runs an MBA, and admissions for the 2026-28 batch are open. The college also has postgraduate engineering courses and PhD research through VMRF. B.Tech admission is through VMRF's own application and entrance process rather than TNEA counselling. GATE scores are accepted for M.Tech. A placement cell publishes recruiter lists each year, and the college has a student ambassador scheme that lets applicants chat with current students before joining.
